Called "South Philly" to the locals, South Philadelphia is bordered by South Street to the north, the Delaware River to the east and south, and the Schuylkill River to the west, with a diverse population of Italian Americans, Irish Americans, and African Americans. It is the home of Philadelphia's best cheesesteak shops and the Philadelphia Sports Complex, where all major sports teams play, as well as the former Philadelphia Navy Yard.
The area was made famous as the home of Rocky in Sylvester Stallone's 1976 film, and includes the Italian Market.
