At the Chula Vista Nature Center, view native and endangered wildlife at one of the few remaining salt-marsh habitats on the Pacific coast. Located on Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge on San Diego Bay, this interactive nature center is the home for more than 214 species of birds, as well as endangered Green Sea Turtles, stingrays, leopard sharks, and other sea creatures.
The center includes an observation tower, a veritable bird-watchers paradise, as well as guided nature walks that provide an opportunity to view hundreds of plants and animals native to San Diego Bay and the surrounding wetlands, as well as an aviary with shore birds and raptors.
A new addition to the park is the Discovery Center, featuring Turtle Lagoon, home of endangered green sea turtles, as well as open tanks exhibiting of a wide range of sea creatures, including moon jellyfish, rays, eels, and rainbow trout.
Shuttles buses run between the parking lot and the center every 10 or 15 minutes.
