DC hotels are going through something of a renaissance. The historic greats such as the 100-year old Willard Intercontinental and the Renaissance Mayflower (host to every inaugural ball since Calvin Coolidge) are new and shiny and restored to historic perfection. Boutique hotels abound, a niche mostly dominated by the Kimpton Hotel Group that runs such popular and hip hotels as the Hay-Adams and Hotel Helix.
Most hotels in DC are concentrated in a few areas, such as Foggy Bottom and Georgetown or Dupont Circle. But you can find a hotel pretty much anywhere, and there are also bed and breakfasts throughout the city.
